01 — The long way here

Who she is, and how she got here.

Senior Staff Data Scientist at Intuit — new role, May 2026.

  1. 01Where it started

A town of 2,000 people in central Poland. A thirty-minute drive each way, every day, for English lessons. One scholarship awarded nationwide to Headington — a boarding school just outside London. She was the student picked.

  2. 02UCL · the physics years

An MSci in Atomic & Particle Physics and Physical Chemistry at University College London, with a thesis in nanotechnology. The training to model a system before trusting it, and to hold uncertainty without flinching — the same instincts she now brings to every experiment and dashboard.

  3. 03The detours that weren't detours

A year volunteering at a business incubator in Kenya. Two winters absorbing the language and culture in Beijing. A season living on a boat in the Red Sea as a PADI Rescue Diver. Thirty-plus countries on the count. Four languages in active use.

  4. 04Into data

YouNoodle and FiveStars — where she learned to make small data tell honest stories. Medium — where she ran experimentation for web and mobile and built the Redshift pipelines underneath. Square / Block — from Senior IC to Manager to Identities Data Science Tech Lead: rebuilt sales forecasting, uncovered $0.5M / year in fee exposure, authored the org-wide ETL template, sat on the AI Steering Committee, and became the heaviest internal user of GooseAI, Block's in-house LLM platform.

  5. 05Now

Sr Staff Data Scientist at Intuit since May 2026 — the next hard thing. A serious enough baker to belong on Bake Off. Loves cats. Don't call her Kat.

Where she works

Where the work lands.

  • Identity verification — risk, fraud, and the merchant identity graph at Fortune-500 scale.
  • Sales analytics — forecasting, reporting overhauls, and the org rituals that make numbers trustworthy.
  • E-commerce & product — onboarding funnels, editor experiences, growth experimentation.
  • Data infrastructure — ETL templates, data contracts, observability tooling (Anomalo, Select Star, Growthbook).
  • LLM operations — Snowflake Cortex with Claude / GPT, GooseAI for support analysis, evaluation discipline at scale.

How she works

Executive presence. IC depth.

  • Physics-trained rigor — holds uncertainty without flinching and models the system before trusting it.
  • Mentor and people manager — coached four FTEs and one intern; directly contributed to two promotions.
  • Org-wide experimentation leader — led the Optimizely rollout for e-commerce and co-hosted company-wide A/B testing office hours.
  • Served on the AI Steering Committee, helping shape enterprise AI strategy from the inside.
  • Co-led the virtual Data Town Square — a recurring 200+ attendee practitioner forum.

Beyond the desk

30+ countries

Globally fluent.

Polish-born, California-based. Four languages, thirty-plus countries logged between projects. Comfortable with distributed teams, cross-cultural launches, and great ideas that don't care about timezones.

Off-duty

Calm under pressure. Literally.

PADI Rescue Diver. The training to brief, to checklist, and to stay measured when the room gets loud — which turns out to be exactly the training a Sev-1 needs.

Quiet hours

Reader, thinker, traveler.

Long-form reading, slow Sundays, an unhurried glass of something good. The space where the best ideas actually arrive.
